about

I took a trip to Horn island, Mississippi, and primitive camped for a little over a week, 2 years ago I think it's been now. While I was there I realized all of these things about myself, and my relationship to everyone else in the world, and my relationship to nature. I left the trip feeling very aware of myself and feeling very confident with what I had learned about all of our relationships to each other. I had a dream while on the island, that these sirens came down from the sky and danced around my tent, singing (in the tune of he's a jolly good fellow) "The devil lives on an island, the devil lives on an island, the devil lives on an island, the closest one to you." That's what the lyrics about the sirens has to do with. Anyway, all of these great big feelings I had about nature and whatnot, they all kind of collapsed over the summer, so I chose to use the image of islands sinking to represent that.

lyrics

Put your cowgirl boots on
And we will drive through old Mississippi,
With the rain and the grey in the sky,
and the people on the streets with the fire in their eyes,
We will find the island
Where I found myself
We will bathe in the water and
Become someone else

But you don't want to believe
In such a thing

Angels saw off their wings,
And the sirens, the sirens
They sing like children,
And the islands, the islands
Will sink,
Oh my god
I lost my leaves
Oh my god
I lost my gust

Because I believed
That love was real
