about

Written in the same vein as the "Appalachians" track. This song is about how the natural world better suits me. In the midst of my summer-mental breakdown, I remember continuously thinking, "Just move outside and leave it all behind. Run away to the mountains, be a truck driver, see things, experience things, try to fall in love again, just get the fuck out of this headspace."

lyrics

If I could wish
On a candle, I would just
blow it out
If I could wish
On your lashes,
I would have them closed
If I could wish
On a star, I would ask for
more stars
I would paint the heavens
With the tiny shining darts,
I would close my eyes
Give the garden more time;
I would drown the cities
And keep the mountains dry
I would ask for you
In a tiny living room
With a ring on your finger
And our children in bloom

If I could build a cabin;
If I could just be lovely;
If I could get my hands dirty,
I would tend the field;
I would spend the evenings
beside orange peels;
We could pass the whiskey,
and share our lips,
we could fall in love;
in the lake behind the fence
